Spring weekends without crowds: Mountains or wine?

Spring has one huge advantage – you don't have to rush anywhere. Nature wakes up and places that are usually full of people in summer or winter suddenly seem much calmer.
And that's when a weekend away from the city makes the most sense. The question is: should you prefer wine and the slow pace of South Moravia, or an active weekend in the mountains?

When peace and relaxation, then Pavlov and wine
Spring in Pálava has a completely different energy than the autumn grape harvest. The vineyards are turning green, the air is fresh, and the surroundings of Pavlov seem much calmer than during the main season.
The morning can start with a leisurely breakfast overlooking the vineyards. The morning is for a walk among the rows of vines, a hike to Děvín or just a quiet sit by the water surface of the Novomlýnské reservoirs. And in the afternoon? That's time for a glass of wine in one of the local wineries.
Spring weekends in Moravia are ideal for those who want to slow down. And if you would like to make the weekend special, just choose one of the wine or cultural events that we have already written about in one of our previous articles . Just choose the date.

A slow pace that heals
In Pálava, you don't need to have a program planned out by the hour. All you need is comfortable shoes, a light jacket, and a desire to be outdoors. A spring weekend here works best when you leave even a little room for chance.
And that's when it makes sense to have a nice environment - an apartment with plenty of space, the opportunity to cook dinner or sit on a terrace with a view. Then the weekend is not just a trip, but a real rest.
If you want an active weekend in nature, then Špindlerův Mlýn
On the other side of the country, spring takes a different form. In Špindlerův Mlýn , the snow gradually retreats to higher altitudes and the mountains take on a fresh character.
Some people still manage to get in some last-minute skiing, while others prefer hiking. Trails around the Elbe, views from ridges, or walks through the forest provide a special sense of peace in spring – without the winter hustle and bustle and without the summer crowds .

Mountains that give space
Spring Špindlerův Mlýn is not about performance. It's about being able to choose your pace. A hike in the morning, coffee in the sun in the afternoon, a quiet sit-down in the evening.
And just like in Moravia, the surroundings play a role here too. If your accommodation is close to the city center and nature, you just have to go out and decide according to your mood – the forest, a hike on a ridge, or a quiet evening with a view of the mountains.
Wine or mountains? Maybe just a matter of mood
The difference between Pavlov and Špindel is not just in the landscape. It might seem like it's a difference in rhythm...
Pavlov offers peace, wine and views of the vineyards.
Špindlerův Mlýn brings movement, mountain air and the energy of nature.

Or is it just the opposite?
Pavlov can also offer an active weekend - just add a route through Pálava, a hike to Děvín or a trip to the surrounding wine-growing villages to the program and your stay will suddenly become a weekend full of activity.
And Špindlerův Mlýn, on the other hand, doesn't have to be just about sports. Here too, spring can be experienced in a relaxing way: by walking through the center, sitting in a café, having a good dinner or a quiet wellness evening. In addition, the center has a number of restaurants and businesses that are worth a visit - and if you want inspiration, you can also find it in our article with tips on where to go for food and coffee in Špindlerův Mlýn.
Sometimes all it takes is a change of scenery. One weekend among the vineyards, another in the mountains – and spring takes on a completely different dimension. When combined with comfortable surroundings, a short stay can become an experience you'll want to return to.
