January and February: A quiet start to the year and the first thematic events

The beginning of the year is usually rather peaceful in Pálava. But this is precisely what brings with it the opportunity to discover the magic of this region. Mikulov and the surrounding villages can be explored without crowds and the winter landscape has its own charm.

If you have the opportunity, we recommend spending any winter season in Pavlov. Combined with wine and a pleasant atmosphere, it is suitable for anyone who wants to spend a weekend in South Moravia a little differently.

March: Social season in Pavlov

In March 2026, the Pavlov Village Ball , a traditional social evening with music and dancing, is worth noting. It is the type of event that shows that Pavlov does not only live in summer and autumn, but also has its charm outside the main season.

April: Wine exhibitions, open cellars and dulcimer

April is one of the first months in Pálava when the region fully awakens. The vineyards begin to turn green, winemakers prepare for the season, and the first big events appear in the villages.

The Traditional Regional Wine Exhibition will take place in Pavlov on April 4, 2026, which is one of the largest wine events in the village and is ideal if you want to taste a really wide cross-section of regional production.

One of the most attractive spring events is the Open Cellar Day in Pavlov. (spring term), which will take place on April 25, 2026. If a visit to Pavlov is about wine, this is one of the best dates in the whole year.

The event will take place on Česká Street in the wine village of Pavlov. Experience a beautiful Moravian evening with the cimbal right on the street.

Cimbalom playing takes place continuously until the end of the holidays:

May: Mikulov in the lead role

May is one of the liveliest months of the year in Mikulov. It is in May that the Mikulov City Festival takes place.

It is an event that is definitely not just about wine. The program is built on the urban atmosphere, cultural performances, concerts and accompanying events, thanks to which Mikulov turns into one big center of events for a few days.

June to September: Open cellars and summer season

Summer in Pálava is the time when all the local cellars open their doors and it is worth planning a stay to visit the Pálava cellar masters. Many visitors head to the region precisely because it offers something of Moravian culture almost every weekend.

The biggest summer event is the Summer of Open Cellars in Pavlov , which runs from June 19 to September 6, 2026. In practice, this means the opportunity to taste wines directly from the winemakers, walk through the cellars, and get to know Pavlov as the locals know it.

The cellars are open on Friday (4:00 PM-8:00 PM), Saturday (10:00 AM-6:00 PM) and Sunday (10:00 AM-2:00 PM) on the following dates:

Mikulov also hosts the Mikulov International Guitar Festival during the summer. This year will be the 38th year, taking place from July 5 to 11, 2026. It is a great tip for those who want to combine a wine trip with a cultural experience.

September: Pálava grape harvest as the highlight of the year

September is the most seasonal month in Pálava. The vineyards are full of life, the landscape has its typical color, and the entire region lives on wine.

The biggest event is without a doubt the Pálava Wine Harvest , which takes place from September 11 to 13, 2026 in Mikulov . The festival traditionally offers wine tastings, a music program, folklore, parades and food stalls.

Pokud chcete naplánovat jeden jediný termín v roce, kdy budete mít možnost zažít Pálavu naplno, doporučujeme druhý víkend v září, který hostí právě vinobraní.

October: Pálava at a calmer pace

October tends to be a more pleasant month in the region for those who like Pálava without the crowds . Events are not as massive as in September, but you can still find smaller tastings, walks through vineyards or cultural programs that appear in the calendars of Pavlov, Mikulov and surrounding villages.

For example, the Cimbalom Festival is still going on at the Topolanský Winery , which has the advantage, among other things, that you can visit it even in inclement weather.

On each date, you can look forward to wine tasting in the 400-year-old cellar from 7:00 p.m., and from 8:00 p.m., dulcimer music will make your stay more enjoyable.

November and December: St. Martin's Day Mikulov and the Christmas atmosphere

November in South Moravia traditionally belongs to young wine. Mikulov traditionally hosts the St. Martin's Day Mikulov event in November and usually revolves around tastings, themed menus and the pleasant atmosphere of the town.

The year ends with Adventní Pálava , which offers Christmas markets, concerts and an accompanying program.

Pálava always has something to offer, the important thing is to arrive.

The advantage of Pálava is that you can come at any time — and each time it offers a slightly different atmosphere. Some people want to experience bustling Mikulov during the grape harvest, while others prefer a quieter spring with open cellars and walks through the vineyards.

Whether your goal is wine, culture, or just a weekend in South Moravia, it pays to coordinate your stay with events. Often, all it takes is a few days to move the date forward and instead of an "ordinary" trip, you can create an experience with a completely different energy.

If we were to summarize a few dates that are worth going to, these are the five events that make Pálava Pálava:

  • Open Cellar Day – spring date (April 25, 2026, Pavlov)

  • International Guitar Festival Mikulov (July 5–11, 2026, Mikulov)

  • Summer of Open Cellars (June 19 – September 6, 2026, Pavlov)

  • Pálava Wine Harvest (September 11–13, 2026, Mikulov)

  • Advent Pálava (December 2026, Pavlov)
